About L.A.

Laura began freelancing as a way to monetize her passion, but quickly realized each and every client presented a unique opportunity to expand her writing skills in ways she never imagined. She also found that freelancing was a way to spread her love for the Oxford comma (and engage in a spirited debate with clients who embrace a breezier comma philosophy).

She has studied under and been mentored by some of the most well-respected writing instructors and authors in the industry: Candace Havens, Margie Lawson, Allison Brennan, CJ Lyons, Robin Perini. Specifically, she has reached master-class status with Margie Lawson’s methods of deep editing for psychological impact, developed in conjunction with Harlan Coban and other NY Times bestselling authors.

Her freelance ghostwriting portfolio includes more than 35 novels and novellas in YA, non-fiction memoir, women’s fiction, and nearly all sub-genres of romance. She has reached Amazon #1 category bestseller status three times: internationally, with a small-town western romance that ties heavily into her deep Texas roots, with a time travel romance that surpassed Outlander in Amazon sales (if only for a brief flash of glory), and with a social media-focused book in a very crowded business genre.

Editing clients include a USA Today and NY Times bestselling romance author, a 2014 “Best of” London Book Festival winner, the CEO of an international health supplement company, tech entrepreneurs, Hollywood screenwriters, a Sundance Film Festival and Netflix documentary content contributor and—most importantly—everyday rock star men and women who have compelling stories to share. Her editing portfolio includes middle-grade, YA, sci-fi/fantasy, self help, business, horror, women’s fiction, historical, erotica, and all subgenres of romance.

Her clients have an impressive history of traditional, hybrid, and indie successes. They land literary agents and win awards, such as Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart, and light the indie literary landscape on fire with impressive domestic and international sales. Repeat clients and referrals keep her booked, but she always leaves room in her schedule for new clients and opportunities.

Laura sets herself apart in the crowded freelancing space by evolving her services to reflect the ever-changing publishing landscape. Client projects rise above the typical noise of self-publishing, and L.A. relives the magic of the writing dream over and over with each successful client release.
